Title screen!

…but not the title screen of Larry Vales 3. Or whatever the hell it’s called. But I figured I’d swap out the sweeping Scotish vista for something at least moderately associated with the new game.

I’ve also finalized involvement with a graphic artist and a score composer (talented, lovely men, the two of them) which means the only real involvement I’m still looking for is…YOURS.

Yes, because I will need a small group of dedicated (and untalkative!) playtesters, and also some voice talent to help bring my characters to life. You should a tab to the voice acting page just below my spiffy new (circa 1999) header image. Click there to see this game’s returning friends and to offer me your oral services.

  1. Will the art style be different from the two previous games?

  2. The way the art changed over the course of the original two (and a bit of three) games was basically the same simple character and background designs being handled, little by little, slightly more competently.

While I won’t be doing the art for this game, it probably won’t seem out of place in the standard escalation of quality. Alright, so it’s probably quite a few steps ahead of what I’d be able to produce myself, but it should turn out to be, more or less, what I’ve had in my head all along.

There’s a specific adventure game that we’re keeping in mind as we design things for Reloaded, taking that as sort of our visual inspiration, but I won’t spoil it for you. It might be frustrating now, but just wait until the art and screenshots start rolling in.

  3. Will try to find some interested folks for voice acting (frankly, I think my voice kind of blows, so I doubt I’ll be useful for anything more than a bit part).

  4. Is that inspirational adventure game one of the classsic adventures?

  5. It’s debatable whether or not the game could be considered a classic adventure. Certainly there is a large group of people who would say it was. I’m more of the opinion that it should have been great…but wasn’t quite.

Of course, the art style, I believe, is respectable, and while we won’t be lifting it wholesale we’re kind of using it as a gauge against which to measure ourselves.

With any luck I’ll have some backgrounds to post up shortly after Thanksgiving.
